You know how it goes
The baby finally sleeps. Your breasts are full. The pump is in the other room, plugged into the wall, with tubes and a cord that doesn't reach the couch.
So you sit in one chair for twenty minutes while the day goes on without you.
The Glow has no cord and no tubes. It sits inside your bra, and it comes with six flange sizes and a ruler so you can find the one that fits.
Is a wearable pump the right pump for you
Wearable pumps let you express while your hands keep moving. They suit some feeding situations better than others.
It suits you if
- Feeding is established and you want to express once or twice a day
- You are heading back to work, or want expressed milk on hand for when you're apart from your baby
- You want to pump in the car, at your desk, or while you hold a toddler
- You leak a lot and want to collect it rather than lose it
Get feeding support before you buy if
- You are exclusively pumping, or your baby is in special care
- You are trying to build supply in the first weeks
- You have pain, damaged nipples, or feeds that are not working
Talk with your midwife, a lactation consultant (IBCLC) or your child and family health nurse. A different type of pump may suit you better.
What it does
Hands free
Cordless, fits inside a regular or nursing bra. Bra extenders are in the box.
Strong, adjustable suction
Up to 320 mmHg with adjustable levels (manufacturer specification). Start low. More suction is not more milk.
Quiet
A low motor hum. You can pump on a work call (muted, ideally).
A night light
Built in, so you can see what you are doing at 3am without waking anyone.
A spare motor
Swap it in when one runs flat. Bubka quote around 20% longer battery life than their earlier model.
Easy to clean
Few parts, soft food-grade silicone, BPA-free. Stands up on its own base so it won't tip on the bench.
A word on flange size
A flange that doesn't fit is a common cause of uncomfortable pumping. It can rub and leave nipples sore. Many pumps arrive with a 24mm flange, and plenty of nipples are smaller than that.
The Glow comes with six sizes and a ruler. Measure across the base of your nipple after a feed. Your flange is usually that number or a few millimetres more. Your nipple should move freely in the tunnel without much of the areola being pulled in.
Sizes can change over the first weeks. Keep the spares. If pumping hurts, stop and get feeding support.
